Best just to say that Hiaasen's books read like no one else's, with a little Elmore Leonard and a little Donald Westlake. His books are not just funny - there's a real anger in his work that pushes it from humor to satire - Dave Barry with an edge. Full of fanciful Florida characters, his books are funny and biting, mercilessly laying waste to all unlucky enough to be caught in their path (much like Hurricane Andrew in Stormy Weather). In addition to his mysteries, he's written an expose of Disney's business practices (Team Rodent), a collection of columns (Kick Ass), a children's book (Hoot), and a pair of songs with the late, great Warren Zevon.
